Specifying a Fallback Value

For any EasyPower setting where the import option is set to Use OnSite property or Use lookup table, you can select a fallback value. This value is used when you import data to EasyPower and a field that is required to specify another field is either blank (in the case of an OnSite property) or not a match in the lookup table (if a lookup table was used). When this occurs, the fallback value is used by EasyPower instead.

This is useful for situations where a certain value is required to be entered before another value can be specified in EasyPower—for example, needing to specify the cable type prior to specifying the cable size. This ensures that data in a field that is related to another required field is imported into EasyPower.

Note: Regardless of which option you select here, the Collected Data tab in EasyPower always displays the property values that were recorded in OnSite. This means you will always retain the data that was recorded as a reference—it just may not appear in the data dialog box fields if the corresponding field that needed to be set first wasn't specified correctly.

These options are used if the OnSite field is either blank or not a match in the lookup table:

  • Leave blank: This option is only available for some EasyPower fields. When selected, the value imported into EasyPower is blank.
  • Use EasyPower default: When this option is selected, EasyPower uses the default set up for the equipment in EasyPower.
  • Use this value: This option enables you to provide a specific value to be used. The entry must be valid for the corresponding field in EasyPower to be accepted during the import. If the value is a number, do not include the units. The number should be specified in units that are appropriate for the field in EasyPower.

Note: There is no validation that the value you enter is appropriate for EasyPower. Make sure you enter the value in a format that EasyPower accepts for that specific field.
