Connection and Voltage

When you connect line-to-neutral single-phase equipment to a 3-phase bus, the voltage of the single-phase equipment is 1/SQRT(3) times the base voltage of the 3-phase bus. In Options, on the System tab, you can specify nominal voltages of the line-to-neutral connected equipment for any 3-phase nominal voltage. In practice, the nominal voltages used in the industry and standards are rounded to 3 or 4 significant digits.

If the nominal voltage is defined in the options, then that value is used in the program to set the default base voltage of new equipment being inserted; otherwise, the ratio 1/SQRT(3) is used to calculate the base voltage. You can manually enter voltage data with higher precision into the table if needed.

When you connect line-to-neutral single-phase equipment to a 1PH-3W bus, the voltage of the line-to-neutral equipment is 1/2 times the base voltage of the 1PH-3W bus.
