Label Variables

Much of the text that appears on an arc flash label originates from the Arc Flash Hazard Report or the equipment data dialog boxes in EasyPower. These values are referred to as variables in the label designer, and they can be included in text items or used to change the appearance of the label under different conditions.

Arc Flash Analysis Day Number

Day number of the date the Arc Flash Hazard Report was generated. For example, for the date July 15, 2024, the number is 15.

Arc Flash Analysis Month Name Abbreviation

Abbreviation of the name of the month the Arc Flash Hazard Report was generated. For example, for the date July 15, 2024, the value is Jul.

Arc Flash Analysis Month Name Full

Name of the month for the date the Arc Flash Hazard Report was generated. For example, for the date July 15, 2024, the value is July.

Arc Flash Analysis Month Number

Month number of the date the Arc Flash Hazard Report was generated. For example, for the date July 15, 2024, the number is 7.

Arc Flash Analysis Year Number

Month number of the date the Arc Flash Hazard Report was generated. For example, for the date July 15, 2024, the number is 2024.

Arc Flash Boundary

Arc flash boundary in the unit specified in options. As per NFPA 70E, this is the distance at which the incident energy is calculated to be 1.2 Cal/cm2.

Arc Flash Boundary Value

Arc flash boundary in the specified unit. You can specify the Unit (such as cm, meter, feet, inches, etc.) and the number of decimals to display for meters.

Arc Flash File Name

File name of the one-line.

Arc Time

The sum of the Trip Time and the Opening Time.

Bus Comments

General comments from Comments tab of equipment dialog. This is the old method. The preferred variable is the Label Comment per Label based in the Arc Flash Hazard tab of equipment dialog.

Bus Label Comments

Equipment-specific comment from the Arc Flash Hazard tab of the equipment dialog box. You can also enter comments in the Arc Flash Hazard report.

Clearing Time (branch bolted fault)

The sum of the Trip Time (branch bolted fault) and the Opening Time.

Clothing Description

Description of required clothing based on the hazard level calculated. The descriptions come from the library.

Company Name

Company name as registered during the EasyPower installation.

Device Code

Device code as entered in the equipment dialog. This is a string that generates a QR code on the label.

Device Comment

Comment for the arc flash result downstream of the trip device. This is applicable for detailed output showing feeder results.

Device Description

Comes from Device Description field in the Panel Data or MCC Data dialog boxes.

Device Name

Name of the equipment with the fault.

Electrical Calculation Method

Standard of calculation method used.

Electrode Configuration

A combination of the orientation of the conductors and enclosure based on IEEE 1584-2018. Possible outputs for the box are VCB, VCBB, HCB, or a combination of these, and for open air are VOA and HOA, or a combination.

Electrode Gap (mm)

The gap between electrodes.

Enclosure Depth (mm)

The depth of the enclosure.

Enclosure Height (mm)

The height of the enclosure.

Enclosure Width (mm)

The width of the enclosure.

Gloves Description

Class of gloves required based on equipment voltage per OSHA.

Grounded

Displays Yes if the arc flash faulted bus was determined to be effectively grounded for arc flash calculations. This pertains to only the arc flash calculations method IEEE 1584-2002.

Hazard Units

Units for incident energy. For example, Cal/cm2.

Incident Energy

Incident energy at the working distance.

Is Base Case

Displays Yes for base case and No for scenario.

Kilo Volts

Voltage of faulted bus in kV.

Label Comments

Optional comments entered by the user when printing labels. Equipment specific comment entered in Arc Flash Hazard tab of the equipment dialog box. You can also enter comments in the Arc Flash Hazard Report.

Label Print Day Number

Day number of the date the label was printed. For example, for the date July 15, 2024, the number is 15.

Label Print Index

Index of the label printed for the device. Ranges from 1 to the Number of Labels to Print.

Label Print Month Name Abbreviation

Month on which the label was printed. For example, for July 15, 2024, this would be Jul.

Label Print Month Full Name

Month on which the label was printed. Example for July 15, 2024, this would be July.

Label Print Month Number

Month on which the label was printed. Example for July 15, 2024, this would be 7.

Label Print Year Number

Month on which the label was printed. Example for July 15, 2024, this would be 2024.

Limited Distance

Limited Approach Boundary as per NFPA 70E, based on equipment voltage.

Limited Distance Value

Numeric value for the limited approach boundary.

Location Description

Location of the equipment from the Location tab in the equipment dialog box.

Location Floor

Floor data from the Location tab of equipment dialog box.

Location X

X coordinate of the equipment as entered in the Location tab of equipment dialog. X can be feet, inches, meters, and so on.

Location Y

Y coordinate of the equipment as entered in the Location tab of equipment dialog. Y can be feet, inches, meters, and so on.

Maintenance

Displays On if the upstream trip device has Maintenance Mode set to on, and Off otherwise.

Momentary Bus Current in Amps

Momentary (1/2 cycle) short circuit current at the faulted bus. Value in Amps.

Momentary Bus Current in Kilo Amps

Momentary (1/2 cycle) short circuit current at the faulted bus. Value in kA.

No. of Phases

The number of phases for AC equipment. This can be 3 or 1.

Number of Labels to Print

Total number of labels to print for device, as specified in the equipment data dialog or Arc Flash Hazard Report.

PPE

PPE Level Text from tables in the library based on incident energy calculated. You can choose the table in Advanced Options in the Arc Flash Hazard dialog box. For comparisons it is same as PPE Class. See Arc Flash Hazard Options.

PPE Boundary

The distance from the equipment at which the incident energy is equal to the rating of the PPE specified in the arc flash options. Units are included in the output.

PPE Boundary Value

Numeric value for the PPE Boundary, without units.

PPE Class

Ordinal value of the PPE level for the arc flash calculated.

PPE Level

For display it is the same as PPE, but it is the string value of PPE that can be compared against.

Prohibited Distance

Prohibited approach boundary with unit as per NFPA 70E.

Prohibited Distance Value

Numeric value of prohibited approach boundary.

Project Code

Project Code value entered in the File Properties dialog box.

Project Name

Project Name string entered in the File Properties dialog box.

Rating for PPE Boundary

The user-specified rating of PPE for which the PPE boundary needs to be calculated.

Restricted Distance

Restricted approach boundary with unit as per NFPA 70E.

Restricted Distance Value

Numeric value of restricted approach boundary.

Scenario Name

Name of scenario in Scenario Manager for which the arc flash hazard calculation applies.

Trip Time

Trip time for the protective device at the estimated arc current.

Trip Time (branch bolted fault)

The upstream device trip time based on the momentary (1/2 cycle) branch current.

Upstream Bus Name

ID name of the bus at which the upstream trip device is located

Upstream Trip Device

ID name of protective device on which the arcing time is based.

Volts

Voltage of faulted bus in volts.

Volts Current Type

Type of current for voltage (AC or DC).

Volts with Units

Voltage for faulted bus along with units.

Working Distance

Working distance with units.

Working Distance Value

Numeric value of working distance.
