Importing Reliability Data

There are several ways to import reliability data into the components on your one-line. You can perform a bulk import to all items, or import data on individual items.

Importing Data to All Components

When you import data to all the components, the program sets the reliability values based on a "best fit" of values from the library. You can override the values on the individual items later if desired.

Typically, you would do this when you first start a project.

Import data to all components on the one-line, as follows:

  1. Under Reliability, click Import Reliability Data.
  2. Select the library from which you want to import the reliability data. Typically, this is IEEE 493-2007 Annex Q, but you can select a custom library if you have one.
  3. If you have either already imported reliability data or manually entered data, and you want those existing values to be replaced with new imported values, select the Overwrite existing reliability metrics check box. If the check box is left clear (which is the default setting), no existing values are replaced.

    Then, click Import.

  4. A message is displayed that tells you how many records were updated. Click OK.

After the import is complete, you can view and edit the results in the individual data dialog boxes or in the Database Reliability View. See Reliability Tab and Reliability Database View for more information.

Importing Data to Individual Components

There are two ways to import reliability data to individual components:

  • On the Reliability tab in the individual data dialog boxes. See Reliability Tab for more information.
  • Figure 1: Importing in the Reliability Tab

  • In the Database Reliability View. See Reliability Database View for more information.
  • Figure 2: Importing in the Reliability Database View

After you click Import, you are given the option to select the library, category, and class. EasyPower attempts to make a best fit for the category and class based on the equipment selected. Make your selections, and then click Import.

In the individual equipment data dialog boxes, information about the import is shown.

Note that if you have manually entered values to the individual components, this import overwrites the entered values.
