Here is some frequently asked questions about OnSite.
Do I need to have EasyPower to use OnSite?
No, you can use OnSite without having EasyPower. It is a great tool for collecting data and photos of your equipment, and you can create one-lines within OnSite.
To get the most benefit from OnSite, though, use of EasyPower is recommended.
When should I use the One-line view?
The One-line view is best if you want to show a physical representation of your system and want to show the connections between equipment items. This is often used by electrical engineers who want to see the connection information. They may also want to enter equipment information in this view.
When should I use the Database Browser?
The Database Browser is great for viewing and entering information about your project or equipment items. This is often used by field technicians who want to record equipment information but don't need to do anything with a one-line.
When should I use the Spreadsheet view?
The Spreadsheet view is great for viewing or entering information about your bus duct, switchgear, switchboard, MCCs, panelboard, or panel schedules.
What are the differences between OnSite and EasyPower?
If you are familiar with EasyPower, many of the concepts used in OnSite will be familiar to you. However, there are some important differences to note:
- A project in OnSite can contain multiple one-lines. In EasyPower, each one-line is independent.
- In OnSite, the same equipment can appear in more than one one-line. In addition, the same equipment can appear in both a one-line and a spreadsheet.
- In OnSite, equipment items on the one-line are connected from one component to the next. For example, you do not drop a breaker on an existing cable in OnSite; instead, you connect the breaker to the bus, and then connect the cable to the breaker.
- OnSite is designed to allow flexible data collection. You can specify which information is required, but you are not forced to enter required information. Because OnSite is flexible, it does not validate that the information entered is a value that EasyPower accepts.
- Because OnSite is flexible, you can make connections in OnSite that are not allowed in EasyPower For example, in OnSite, it is possible to connect a breaker to another breaker.
- It is not a requirement for you to create a one-line in OnSite to be able to enter equipment data as you must in EasyPower. For example, you can add equipment through a spreadsheet and enter the data there.
- OnSite is designed for you to have the best experience using a stylus or finger on a mobile tablet. In EasyPower, you are encouraged to use a mouse on a desktop system.
