Importing a Project into OnSite

You can import an exported project into OnSite. For example, you might do this if you exported a project for backup purposes and now want to import the backup back into OnSite. For information on exporting a project, see Exporting a Project.

The exported file is a compressed file that contains all of the project information including the media items and the project database name. If you use File Explorer to rename the export file prior to importing, it does NOT rename the project database itself, as that is stored within the compressed file. You will have the opportunity to rename the project database when you perform the import (see Step 3 below).

To import a project:

  1. From the OnSite Start page (where you select your projects), tap Import Project.
  2. Browse to the location of the exported project file. The file will have an OnSiteDB extension. Select the file, and then tap Open.
  3. If the project does not already exist in OnSite, it is imported, and the project appears on the Start page.
  4. If the project already exists in OnSite, you will be asked to provide a new name for the project database. Type the new name, and then tap OK.
  5. Note: This creates a database with the new name, but the project retains the original name. You can rename the project name using the Database Browser. See Renaming a Project.
